Anyway just a beginning note for now \u2013 which this is about the doomed Samsung Galaxy Note 7:<\/p>\n

After some investigation into the Note 7\u2019s tendency to explode, Samsung, the manufacturer of the device found that the problems stemmed from two issues.\u00a0 The first was that the design of the GN7 left little room for the lithium ion battery to breathe or expand when it got hot.\u00a0 The second was that the software\/circuitry that controlled battery thermal runaway didn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n

Whatever the case with the GN7 \u2013 it has long been my contention that lithium ion battery tech is outmoded.\u00a0 More so, users of devices that use the aforementioned battery tech deserve better \u2013 both from a safety standpoint as well as that of performance.\u00a0 It shouldn\u2019t be that I have to nightly charge my smartphone, smartwatch and other devices just so that they can make it through a day\u2019s use.\u00a0 It shouldn\u2019t be that I have that \u201cwill it explode\u201d thought in the back of my mind when my Samsung Galaxy 7 gets overly warm when it\u2019s doing a lot of updating.<\/p>\n

The issues with the Galaxy Note 7 should bring the need for improvements to the batteries that power our mobile tech to the forefront.\u00a0 Which, it\u2019s high time that change should happen \u2013 because this issue with lithium ion batteries has been going on for decades\u2026<\/p>\n
